A Godly twist on Halloween!

We are heading to the pumpkin patch tomorrow! Yahoo! I always loved pumpkins and halloween when I was growing up. After I became a Christian (my hubby and I were saved on the same night 5 years into our marriage), we decided that as a family, we weren't going to take part in traditional Halloween activities. Each family needs to decide for themselves what to do - and do what they feel is right. Anyway...

Even though I feel good about our decision, I've missed the fun of it all... But tomorrow we get to head out to the patch to claim a victim (I mean, a pumpkin) of our own! This came about from an email my mom sent me recently:
A woman was asked by a co-worker, 'What is it like to be a
Christian?'

The co-worker replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.' God picks you
from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He
cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.He removes the seeds of
doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His
light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'

My family and I are going to celebrate God's love with a pumpkin tomorrow... Hubby will tell our 4 boys the story before we go and we will rejoice in it all day long!

Here's the recipe for Mummy Toes: (My kids love them!)

Mummy Toes

Ingredients:
3 cans of refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 per can)
1 large package of cocktail smokies
1 pkg almond slices (you can find them in the baking isle at WM)
ketchup

Preparation & Baking Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees; Open can of crescent roll and unroll the dough
2. Place one triangular piece of crescent roll on a baking sheet or cooking stone; cut into three triangles
3. Put a cocktail weenie in the wide end of a dough triangle; roll the dough around the sausage (you should have one layer of dough covering it completely - leaving the 'toe' end exposed); taper the other end to look realistic at the base of the toe
4. Place the toes in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
5. After baking, add a dab of ketchup at the exposed end of the toe and press an almond slice onto the ketchup for the nail. Tip, it’s easier if you add the ketchup to the almond slice then attached to the toe.
